This particular piece is reminiscent of a crude, rough Japanese bokuto, or more commonly knows as a bokken.

Every piece we offer is unique.  No two are alike.  Sometimes pieces lay in wait until I feel like it speaks to me and tells me what it wants to be.  This one is an enigma.  It wanted to keep its bark on, but that was it.  Nothing else definite about it, but it was calling out to be sanded, polished and have a gorgeous yet textured finish.  I was going to wait, but it kept calling out to me.  So I did what it wanted.

Rough, even rugged in its beauty.  Bark was left on by it's own choosing.  Giving it that dark persona.

Our South American Strawberry Guava is harvested directly from the source, and handcrafted in our shop.  Guava normally grows as a bush, but the hardest, heaviest, and straightest pieces come from South America.
